TOWN & COUNTRY, February 1997
Steve and Jamie were married in the Gardens in Rutherford, California.
How they met: Steve, an independent-film producer, and Jamie,
a fashion executive, met through mutual friends at a Christmas party
in 1993. The Proposal: They were dining at a Mexican restaurant in
Los Angeles. Steve recalls "being very nervous, with one hand
the Tiffany ring box in my pocket the whole night. And then it happened:
I proposed." Ceremony:
In the garden under a flower-bedecked huppah more spectacular
than any Rose Bowl Parade float.
The Wedding Party: Twenty bridesmaids
and groomsmen; Jonathan Tisch served as his brother's best
man. Hilary and Willy, the groom's children from his first marriage,
were maid of honor and ring bearer, respectively. Reception: 260 guests
stayed on for dinner and dancing under the stars. "We chose the setting
because we felt like a beautiful Tuscan garden," Steve says.
The rustic Italian theme was carried through in a fall menu created
by Elaine Bell Catering Company of Sonoma, featuring grilled Portobello
mushrooms and a mixed grill. The three-berry cake was flown up from
L.A.'s Sweet Lady Jane's Bakery. Banquet tables were strewn with multicolored
roses by Mark's Garden of Los Angeles.
Distinguishing Feature: The
Napa County Airport hosted an unusually large number of private
planes, many belonging to major Hollywood movie studios. Guests: Billie
and Larry Tisch, Lauren and John Veronis, Marvin Davis, Marilyn and
Jeffery Katzenberg, Christopher Darden, Sherry Lansing and Billy Friedkin,
Kimbery an Paul Marciano. The Bride Wore: A sleeveless cream
satin Vera Wang couture dress with lace bodice and net train. Bridesmaids
also wore Vera Wang dresses, theirs in silver satin. Honeymoon:
A tour of Sydney, Bali, Fiji, and Bora Bora. High Point: "For me
to have both my kids in the wedding was just great," says Steve. "It
says so much about Jamie."
